The Class Action Losuit claims that its voice activated Siri Assistant has violated the privacy of users. An initial agreement was filed in Okland, California Federal Court on Tuesday night. Mobile device users had complained that Apple recorded their private things daily. Users say that the company gave such conversations to third party such as advertising companies etc. so that advertisements can be conveyed to the users on the basis of it.
According to media reports, the proposed agreement filed in the federal court in Oklaland, California is going to resolve the 5 -year -old case soon. Apple is alleged that the company recorded a conversation through an iPhone and other devices equipped with virtual assistant Siri for more than a decade, for which it activated Siri in a secret way. It has been claimed that the alleged recording was done even when people did not try to activate the virtual assistant with Trigger Words, ‘Hey Siri’.
However, the Apple is not accepting any wrongdoing in the agreement. The agreement is yet to be approved by American District Judge Jeffrey White. The lawyers in the case have proposed to determine the court hearing on 14 February in Okland to review the conditions. If the agreement is approved, millions of customers who had iPhones and other Apple devices from September 17, 2014 can file claims.
