The complaint has been lodged by Felix Kolotinsky, a resident of California. He has told that Amazon has obtained his personal information on his mobile through ‘SpeedTest By Ookla’. Felix has said that this conduct of the company is a violation of law against California’s unauthorized computer access. He has demanded compensation for millions of California. Amazon did not answer the request sent for comment about this. For the past few years, consumers and regulators have been complaining that companies are trying to earn profit by taking information without consent from their smartphones.
Even before this, such legal cases have been filed against some big companies. In India too, difficulties have increased for Amazon. Recently, the Supreme Court has transferred petitions challenging the Competition Commission of India (CCI) investigation against Amazon and Flipkart to the Karnataka High Court. In these petitions, the CCI challenged the business methods against the alleged competition of Amazon and Flipkart. The Supreme Court has directed the Karnataka High Court to hear the case soon. These e-commerce companies and CCI had agreed to transfer the case to the Karnataka High Court for hearing. The CCI had requested the Supreme Court to hear soon on the petitions challenging the investigation of these companies.
